In the moment planning, EYFS, and staff ratios

Abraham Maslow:

“The ability to be in the present moment is a major component of mental wellness.”

Child-led Planning

At Big Time Pre-prep, we use child-led planning, which follows the children’s interests. We do this by using in-the-moment planning for our weekly planning, where we lead the plan for the week from research, enquiry and exploration.

In the moment, planning allows children to lead their learning; the children are involved in every aspect of the plan.

The benefits of child-led in-the-moment enquiry-based learning are children show higher engagement and interest as they have been involved in the planning. In addition, in the moment, planning promotes self-confidence, independence, involvement and concentration and supports children in regulating their emotions.”

Teachers

At Big Time Prep-prep, we have highly experienced practitioners with over 20+ years combined experience in the Early Years Sector. We value each child as a unique individual while providing a safe, emotionally secure, supportive environment for children to flourish.

Ratios

At Big Time Pre-prep for children from two to three, we have one adult for every four children (1:4); for children from three to five, we have one adult for every eight children (1:8).

Ratios-Outings

When we leave the setting for local trips, we follow the ratio of one adult for every three children (1:3). For external trips where we travel further away via coach or public transport, we follow these ratios.
